My work offers fresh and challenging ways to examine the art of the cowboy boot within the context of heritage and tradition. I invite viewers to contemplate their own expectations of both art and cowboy boots by pushing the boundaries of each in a perfect marriage of the two. I create dialog through interplay of color, texture and technique, preserving tradition and keeping consistent with pioneers of the craft. To invite and achieve continuous exploration is always the goal. The interaction of man and nature is a consistent theme in my work. Flowers, butterflies and leaves are examples of symbols that I frequently incorporate. Through the intricate inlay, overlay and stitching of these symbols, my work encourages the viewer to consider both man's obsession with the perfection of nature and his subconscious desire to contain it. I examine this theme and others, on the socio-cultural canvas of a cowboy boot, questioning and appreciating history emerging through a contemporary lens.
