Pottery has a profundity that we aim to illuminate with our artist statements: use, ritual, function, touch. But the metaphors of pottery operate on an archetypal level. In a simple way, pots do not try to be something other than what they are. Our responses to pots murmur below the radar of language. The act of making pottery has become the way that I expanding my understanding of what pottery means, and what is can signify. All of my work is wheel-thrown, one pot at a time, in my studio in the forest of the Pacific Northwest.
