My wheel thrown and hand-built forms are altered in various ways to make each pot distinctive and unique. The creations are wood fired in either my Train kiln or Japanese style anagama. Forms are constructed from porcelain clay or Shigaraki style clay that I have developed by adding crushed stone. The resulting pots are functional, decorative and have a sculptural component, often reminiscent of the Japanese aesthetic. The one-of-a-kind wood fired surfaces of earthy natural ash compliment an environment embracing natural materials and hand crafted objects.
